Elbe

Introduction

The Elbe Cycle Route goes from Prague on the Vltava (which joins with the Elbe river outside Prague) to Cuxhaven at the North Sea. Bikeline‘s estimate of the distance is 996Km.

Our plan was to cycle the distance in 17 days (average 59Km/day) and to rest for 4 days in Sächsische Schweiz, Schloss Moritzburg, Magdeburg and Cuxhaven. In reality, we cycled 1234Km in 17 days (average 73Km/day).

The Good, the bad and the ugly

  • good: excellent rest days; also Dresden and Meissen were pretty towns (Suzie)
  • good: well signposted and easy cycling (Suzie)
  • good: lots and lots of ferries! (Suzie)
