Introduction
Ochsenweg (German for Ox Road) also know as Hærvejen (Danish for Army Road) is an ancient track from Viborg in Denmark to Hamburg in Germany. The road runs along the watershed of the Jutland Peninsula. Bikeline‘s estimate of the distance is 544Km.
Our plan was to first cycle the Berlin-Copenhagen cycle route and then cycle this route in 9 days (average 60Km/day) and to rest for 2 days in Schleswig and Nortorf. In reality, we cycled 669Km in 9 days (average 74Km/day).
The Good, the bad and the ugly
- good: some cool campsites, e.g. with windmills (Suzie)
- bad: lack of lunching options (Suzie)
- bad: some campsites’ seasons are very short (Suzie)
